Brazos Valley Fiber Arts offers year-round classes, workshops, gatherings and special events designed to help people learn, create and connect through fiber. Whether you’re picking up a crochet hook for the first time, expanding an existing skill or simply looking for a welcoming place to make alongside others, our programming is built to be approachable, practical and community-centered.
Interdependence Relay — Texas Gathering
Join Brazos Valley Fiber Arts on Saturday, October 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for a special Interdependence Relay gathering at The Kimbell Cultural Event Center, 607 N. Main St., Bryan.
This event is free, but advance RSVP is required and attendance is limited to 30 people. Please arrive by 9:45 a.m. for check-in so we can begin promptly at 10:00. We will provide drinks and snacks but you are free to bring your own if you wish.
Bring a yarn-based project and settle in for a shared morning of making and conversation. We will explore what creates community, how fiber arts connect us and the role creative gathering can play in strengthening the places where we live. A brief introduction and fuller overview of the discussion will be provided at the beginning of the event.
Photography Release: By submitting an RSVP and attending, participants consent to being photographed or recorded and authorize Brazos Valley Fiber Arts and The Barnraisers Project/Interdependence Relay to use those images or recordings for documentation, publicity and promotional purposes.

Calling All Crocheters and Bistitchuals 🧶
If crochet is your first love, your second skill or just one of several fiber arts in your project bag, you belong on the World Crochet Map. Add your dot and help show just how far—and how wonderfully varied—the crochet community reaches.
Intro to Crochet

Curious about crochet but not sure where to begin? This welcoming, hands-on class introduces the foundations of crochet in a small-group setting where beginners can learn at a comfortable pace. Over two hours you’ll learn to read a yarn label, hold the hook and yarn, make a slip knot and starting chain, work single and double crochet stitches, count stitches, fasten off, weave in ends . Take home a goody bag with some patterns and basic supplies to get you started. No experience required. Class size is limited to five participants for individual guidance. Classes require a minimum of five participants; if minimum enrollment is not met, the class will be canceled and your registration fee will be refunded or transferred to the next available class. Minimum age for class is 14.

BVFA is willing to cross-promote fiber arts organizations, exhibitions, and community events when there is a reciprocal promotional relationship or another clear benefit to BVFA/BVFF. Requests need to be submitted to our Outreach Chair, Stephanie Pope (community@brsazosvalleyfiberarts.org). They are reviewed by the board and are not guaranteed.
The following Social Gatherings are independently organized and are not programs or affiliates of BVFA unless specifically identified as such.
These are the steps for submitting your Independent Social Gathering:
Send an Email with the following information to our Outreach Director Stephanie Pope(community@brazosvalleyfiberarts.org)
- Organizer – must be subscribed to the BVFA newsletter
- provide current information about their gathering
- agree that the gathering will be clearly described as independent
- We ask that you reciprocate by having a flyer available at each gathering for your attendees-flyer sent as a PDF attachment to the organizer.
- update BVFA if the gathering changes or ends
